Q: What is the story behind your business? When did you start?
A: For many years we managed a number of manufacturer showrooms at the San Francisco Mart. In 1998 we decided to open our own designer showroom based on our years of experience, and create a unique environment catering to the needs of our clients.
When the San Francisco Mart closed in 2006, we moved our business to the Design Pavillion at 200 Kansas in the Design Center area of San Francisco.
Q: What is your philosophy?
A: Our philosophy is simple. To make our showroom as functional as possible for designers and their clients. We want them to find exactly what they need from products, textures, finishes, to color options in an organized, structured, yet inviting atmosphere.
Q: Do you sell eco-friendly furniture?
A: Yes, we do. Our products are manufactured in the USA, Canada and Italy, and use sustainable woods. The biofoam used in the making of our upholstery is made with a soy bean base. Fire retardants are free of cancer leading polybrominated diphenyl.
Q: What makes your showroom unique?
A: We are unique as we carry a variety of looks and styles: contemporary, High Rise design, traditional, trendy, and small space planning to name a few. We keep up with the latest trends and are “a one stop does it all” so to speak. Clients can furnish one room or an entire place. It is cost and time saving too!
Q: What advice can you give people who have never shopped at the Design Center?
A: To come to the San Francisco Design Center area and see for themselves. The Design Center area is open Monday through Friday. When they find what they like, to come back with their designer. The showrooms sell only to "the trade" (designer professionals). If need be, we also provide names of certified designers to help them that we have partnerships with and recommend.
Q: Do they really save by shopping at a showroom like yours?
A: Absolutely! The price a designer quotes their clients is less than the average retail price.
Q: What are your bestsellers and why?
A: Our best sellers are custom items. One of a kind pieces. Custom made sofas, dressers, dinning tables, iron beds and accessories are in big demand. It is also an exciting process for all, as we cannot wait to see the end result!
Q: What are your newest items for 2011?
A: "Organix" rugs made of 100% New Zealand wool, they are not only organic but simply beautiful. Clients can design their own rugs, bring a sketch and use their imagination.
Unique modern statues are also a new thing for us, and they are in high demand as well. We formed a partnership with a local artist.
Q: What is the new trend in 2011?
A: The minimalist and simple look is in right now. Comfortable with a sophisticated look. "Less" is the new "more".
Q: What is your secret for still being alive in this economy?
A: Well, a very strong, friendly, pro-active customer service is the key to survival. We have built everything around providing the best, at a very competitive price. This has always worked for us. This is who we are.
