In 1965 the Emanuel Ungaro's fashion house was born. Emanuel created his first prêt a porter collection in 1968 and opened a boutique at 2, Avenue Montaigne in Paris.

During the next 30 years Emanuel Ungaro house expanded to include boutiques and licensing agreements worldwide.

With a partnership w/ Salvatore Ferragamo in 1996 and Bulgari, Emanuel Ungaro created: Emanuel Ungaro Parfums.

In 2005 the brand was sold to Pakistan -born internet tycoon, Asim Abdullah head of Global Asset Capital Investment Bank.

After a first official appearance in Los Angeles as the new Creative Director for Ungaro, Peter Dundas came to San Francisco to unveil his Spring and Summer collection.

With a Bachelor of Fine Art from Parsons School of Design in New York, Dundas worked as assistant costumer for La Comedie Francaise, then landed a job as Jean Paul Gaultier's first assistant before becoming Ungaro's Creative Director.

The fashion event took place at Nieman Marcus on March 29th. San Francisco's elite attended the event. Guests mingled during the pre-fashion cocktail party, it also gave them an opportunity to meet Peter and Asim Abdullah, Ungaro new owner.

Shortly after guests were led into the show venue to enjoy the half hour fashion show.

The collection at a glance:

  • Dramatic chiffon draped dresses'
  • Flimsy dresses
  • Light as air silk gowns
  • Dresses that define and enhance a woman body
  • Blouson with intricate designs
  • Mixed patterns and sequins

The combination of rich fabrics such as Silk, Velvet and Chiffon with bold and vibrant red, electric blue, violet, gold, silver and bronze gave this collection "energy, muscle and life" says Peter Dundas. The Traditional white, navy and black gave it its sophistication.

Through his use of colors, fabrics and textures Peter Dundas brought the Ungaro's name to another level.

"The Ungaro woman is feminine, sensual, seductive and bewitching" comments Peter during his inerview with me." Ungaro is a fashion house that creates clothes for love. Our clothes are for women of all ages, we design for all of them.
When a woman wears Ungaro, she is a star, it is my duty to make her feel special and unique" adds Dundas. Peter Dundas has a lot to smile about tonight, his collection epitomizes European fashion at its best.
